How to track commonly used phrases by AI.

AI-isms are words or phrases that, due to the content used in training, are repeated often. Whilst these are phrases used in non-AI writing, the frequency AI generates them is disproportionate, and they become “tells” of AI writing.
Words and phrases that are AI-isms include “palpable”, “tangible”, “raced”.
One way our users like to track AI-isms in Novelcrafter is through a codex entry and aliases. These aliases help you review your prose by highlighting these problematic intruders.
To create an AI-isms entry of your own:
- Make a new codex entry, with the type other
- Name the codex entry “AI-isms”
- Go to the actions menu, and assign the codex entry a colour (I use red)
- Now, in the aliases/nicknames, add the names of any AI-isms that you want to track
- Finally, you can click sort aliases to order them alphabetically
